What type of Photography do you do?

As you've probably guessed from browsing the website, my passion is photographing dogs, both on their own and with their people who love them.

My specialty is creating photographic artwork for your home or office, from wall displays to   albums that allow you to enjoy your images every day.

Most sessions take place either in my home studio. While dogs make up the majority of my work, I also enjoy photographing cats and other small pets.

My approach is centered on creating lasting artwork rather than simply delivering a gallery of digital files. While digital images are available, my clients are typically those who want  to see and enjoy their printed images every day.

As of Summer 2026, weddings, big family and corporate events will be phased out allowing me to focus on my the portrait genres.

Do we have to be outdoors?

No, we don't! We live in one of the most beautiful parts of the world, but often studio photography will be a better choice. It's a great enviroment when privacy or a quiet space is valued. It's a nice, cozy space for individuals and groups of up to six. Pets can explore safely without distractions and can jump on the furniture if they want to!

I have a ground floor in home studio with washroom access just outside Truro, N.S. It's great for both people and their pets, and terrific in all kinds of weather!

What should we wear?

I bet you really do have something great to wear, and may just need a bit of help deciding. I LOVE going through the choices and advising as to what might look best given the location and time of day if we are outdoors and what will look best with our chosen backdrop if we are in the studio.

One little note, wear something that "goes with" others or pets who will be photographed with you. Neutrals can usually be your best choice.

If we're outdoors, dress comfortably for the weather! You won't look your best if you're too cold or too warm!

Do we get the files?

I care about the finished experience; not just taking the photograph, but helping you enjoy it for years afterward.

Yes, you get files that are sized to share perfectly online with each print product that is purchased, and you can also purchase just these same web ready digital files that are optimized for online sharing.

Files large enough to print are not generally part of my business model. My reputation is largely based on providing print products that are highly edited and sent to the very best print labs, which is why I control the quality of larger prints so my work can be shown at its best.

Do you do headshots for business or personal use?

Yes! Personal photos are more important than ever, and I have a quiet space that is just perfect for portrait making, or I can come to you if you'd rather have your environment as the background. Pets in some of your images are encouraged, but not necessary!

Whether you need one photo for a profile image or several to build your brand, I'll walk you through the process to make it as easy as possible.

Do you photograph active dogs? Mine might not stay still!

Say that like it's a good thing as it just means your dog is loving life! Your active dog is not a problem, and I can coach you in how to stand by your pup, with the leash on, to help them reset their focus for a few seconds. Seriously, seconds is all it takes!

Years of being owned by dogs, horses and cats make me aware of how they react and respond. Loving my own pets makes me realize how important print images will be for you.

(Fill in blank) hates having their picture taken. What can we do?

Having a camera pointed at you can be really weird and awkward, right? f you are like me, you have at least one family members/friend who would rather do almost anything else than sit through a photography session. Tell them I've got them!

Assure them that I can help them figure out where to put their hands, how to stand and all the other little annoyances that they may have faced in the past when faced with any kind of "picture day". And if they don't want to smile, well that is probably how they wish to present themselves to the world, so we'll go with it!

How do we see the IMages that were taken during the Session?

Within two weeks of your sesssion, I'll partially edit and upload the images in a private online gallery for you to view. All you will need to access the gallery is the link and an email address.

The gallery will have a portrait shop attached to it so you can see all the available products and prices.( The price list is also here on the website.)
