Did you know that there is someone in the Truro area who specializes in photographing dogs in a studio environment?

There is, and that person would be me!

Let's see if I can answer some of your questions.

Where are you located?

  • In Valley, which is about ten minutes from Truro. I have a portrait

studio on the lower level of our home, which makes it easily accessible if mobility issues are a concern for people or pets.

What experience do you have?

  • Officially, I'm in my sixth year as registered business. Unofficially, I've been photographing people and events for over thirty five years. Dogs, horses and cats have been a part of my life for decades and now feature in about 90% of my work.

How much does it cost to have my dog photographed?

  • That's a question I want everyone to ask before they book a session. I have a lot of pricing samples listed on my website, but here's a quick answer: A studio session starts with a $30 session fee. After that, you can spend as much as you like on prints/files.
  • Small prints start at $48 each and are accompanied by their file sized to share online.
  • Here's a scenerio: A session with ten 5x7 prints, two 16x20 prints (a great size to frame) along with their accompanying digitals to share online is currently $636

Do we get all the digitals?

  • I am not a "Here are all the digitals" photographer. I would rather you have ten images that are printed and displayed in your home or given as gifts that you will see often than 100 files that will soon be distant memories on your phone. Digital files sized to share online do accompany each print purchased, and you can purchase digital files, without prints, starting at $65 each.

Does my dog have to be really well trained or very quiet?

  • Easy answer to that one! No.

What happens if my dog just won't settle or if he's too nervous?

  • If your pup isn't happy, we just stop and remove the stress. You might choose to try again another day, switch to an outdoor session at a later date, or receive a refund of your session fee. We'll,of course, spend a bit of time at the beginning to allow your pup time to get comfortable, but that may not happen and we're not ever going to force it. A new environment with a new person might not be what your pup can deal with that day. I won't let you feel bad if we pause our session and will be happy with whatever choice you make.

Can I be in some of the images, too?

  • That would be wonderful! If you need some tips on what to wear, I'm happy to help.

How do we choose and purchase our images?

  • Within about seven days of your session, I'll let you know via email that your proof gallery is ready. Now, you can choose to have me send you the link to a private online gallery, view and make the purchase decisions on your own OR you can choose to come back and see me. If you come back, we'll look at the images on a larger screen, you can ask about print sizes, we can discuss which images would look best together in sets and anything else that might come up.
  • The online gallery has a portrait shop attached to it. Again, you can make your purchase choices on your own, or you can let me know which images you want and at what sizes, and I'll prepare an invoice for you.
  • After you have paid for your order, I'll finish any editing that needs to be done and then send the order to print. That process usually takes up to two weeks. After your prints are ready, the accompanying digitals will be put in your gallery for you to download.
